José Finkel Trophy

The José Finkel Trophy is a Brazilian swimming tournament contested by teams.
It is one of the two main events of the Brazilian Swimming calendar, together with Maria Lenk Trophy,
and is informally called the Brazilian 'Winter Trophy'.
It has been mostly held in short course (25m) swimming pools, and eventually is also considered the ''Brazilian Short Course Championship''.
The tournament is named after a young Brazilian swimmer from Curitiba, who died at age 17 in 1970 due to cancer. The first edition was held in 1972, in a 25m swimming. The last edition was held in August, 2015, in São Paulo,〔

at Esporte Clube Pinheiros.〔

The trophy been disputed 44 times and has hegemony of teams from the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Minas Gerais. The first champion was Botafogo.
The most successful are Pinheiros and Flamengo, with 12 titles.
The current champion is Minas, winning the 5th title in a row, and total of 11 trophies.〔
